Well, I’m in the hospital until at least tomorrow night at 7pm, and possibly the next night. They are monitoring my BP, and the baby. All the blood work and urine samples taken in triage came back fine, but the BP is still up there. At one point, I was getting an ultrasound (to make sure the baby is growing properly) and I just about passed out. BP dropped to 80/45 quickly, and my vision just dropped to almost a pinprick… lost track of what was going on for a little bit, and came to my senses with a nurse telling me to breathe in and out deep and slow. That felt pretty bad, so… no more ultrasonds on my back if they last more than 3 or 4 minutes. Yikes.
Anyhow, like I said all the blood and urine work came back fine, just the BP is messed up (averaging in the 160s over 60s or 70s, which is high). My OBGYN will see me here in the hospital tomorrow morning, and I’ll also meet with a Maternal-Fetal-Medicine specialist to discuss options after the monitoring period here. The OBGYN mentioned that depending on how things turn out, the baby may need to be delivered early (like 37 weeks). Also mentioned that I may just have high blood pressure (rather than actual preeclampsia). Lots of unknowns at this point, though.
The baby, though, is fine (even during the near passing out). In fact, she was downright squirmy, and at one point had her feet up by her head (got a printout of that from the U/S). Her heartrate didn’t change around much, mostly upper 130s and 140s, and she’s just doing her thang. So, that’s good news. Got several measurements from the U/S, which placed her anywhere from 27 to 29 weeks. The AFI (aminotic fluid index) was 15.1 I think, which is a good amount, if I understood correctly.
So, there’s my update.
