Well, my OBGYN came in around 6pm, and let me know that the 3-hour glucose test came back fine, so I don’t have gestational diabetes or diabetes. That’s the good news!
The no news is that the urine analysis isn’t done yet (machine still down, I suppose) and since the MFM specialist I’m supposed to meet with hasn’t been able to see the results, that meeting has been postponed until tomorrow, so I get to stay another night in the hospital. That’s the no news. Unfortunately, they won’t let me wander around just yet until I get the BP lowered.
The news is that they are going to have me take BP medication throughout the rest of the pregnancy and probably for 6 weeks or so afterwards. That should help determine if this is pregnancy-induced hypertension (PHI) or if I just have hypertension in general. I can’t remember the exact name of it (starts with something like ama) but an order has been placed, so maybe I can get started on that tonight, and walk around some (I’d like to go down to the nursery).
Got another BP reading within a half hour, and I’ll be hooked back up to the baby monitors again soon. So far, all the BP readings have been on my right arm, and it’s starting to show little tracks of abrasions. Those cuffs get TIGHT, especially if the initial reading came back high, it tightens up more for a second reading. Outch.
