I can’t believe it’s been just over 9 months since Ivy was born. That’s a whole other pregnancy, timewise! She is such a terrific, awesome, cute, charming, happy, smiley, beautiful little girl! Every day, we are greeted with her dimpled smiley face in the morning, as she is happily talking to herself in her pack-n-play. Oh sure, she has her moments that are less cute, but they are mostly restricted to the end of the day, when it turns into “fight going to sleep” time, but the other 23 hours of the day are 100% pure blessing.
You hear about it all the time, how kids change your life, but until going through that, the reality and pervasiveness of that just isn’t quite tangible. Ivy has made such an impact that some aspects of ME are no longer recognizable, others are newly discovered, and some are coming back to life which had lain dormant for many many many years. I LOVE being a Mommy 🙂
Every now and then, in fact, I will just look at her and it hits me – “look what we made! oh my gosh, that’s just amazing!” Then she’ll turn, flash a toothless smile, and clap or laugh, and everything melts into a soft gooey warmth around me. It’s just… amazing.
She is able to get up on all fours and rock back and forth, punctuating her accomplishment with a slow bellyflop, so self-mobility is right on the horizon. She also grabs my thumbs like motorcycle handles and can pull up to stand. Once she figures out she can do that with OTHER things (the couch, the walls of her playpen and pack-n-play, daddy’s leghairs) we will be thrust into the world of “cruising.”
Right now, I’m savoring every day with her, now, and looking forward to seeing her accomplish all sorts of things. If you’ve got a kid, just go look at what you created. I think you’ll find it amazing, too.
