Ivy’s irresistable charm caused the relatives to line up for the opportunity to babysit for the afternoon. So Holly and I enjoyed our free-day by visiting Griffith Park Observatory and an improptu hike up a hill near the Hollywood sign. It took 1:15 going up and :45 coming down. A little rougher than the hike around Devil’s Tower a couple years ago, but up top the view was good (if not smoggy) and the wind felt great. Holly seems to be getting interested in hiking now, which is cool.
We took many shots of the Hollywood sign from various elevations, and covered about 400 vertical feet on the climb, which was full of switchbacks, steep sections and lots of dust. By the time we got back we were both definitely ready for a cold cold beverage.
