It is Sunday morning, and Holly and I have most of the day to kill. We will be flying back to Houston later this day, but for now we round up George, Loanne, and Jane and ask the perennial question, “So what would you like to do today?”
While trying to figure out the answer to the question, I suddenly had a flash back to the old TV show HeeHaw! Even the male to female gender ratio is the same (only reversed). So would that mean George is Lulu?
Eventually, we each agreed to take a sample drive through Los Angeles and start by visiting Universal Studios City Walk (a boardwalk outside of the Universal Theme Park). It features many ways to spend money. So we did. We had lunch at Bubba Gump’s (very good sample of shrimps… boiled, fried, coconut, steamed, unpeeled, stuffed… just like in the movie) and Ivy got her first taste of seafood, which she gobbled right up. Blueberry lemonade is quite tasty as well.
Before and after lunch, we strolled the Promenade of Overstimulation, including a pause at one end to snap some shots in front of the famous Universal globe. Holly and I both realized at that moment that we wanted to go to the theme park. Oops! Next time, for sure.
Ivy, George, Loanne and Jane all soaked up the people watching. We each picked up some souvenirs (fridge magnets, to keep our collection growing), made our way back to the parking structure, and headed down the freeway to our next destination of the afternoon, which was the Walk of Fame at Hollywood & Highland, followed by a drive through Beverly Hills and down Sunset Boulevard to the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).
We were in one car, and Loann, George and Jane were in another. We had to get back to the airport for a7:15pm flight home, so we parted ways with the others at the ocean in Santa Monica. Jane reports that they headed up the coast to Pepperdine University’s big hill in Malibu, before heading back (including a cruise up the very short Rodeo Drive) to Pasadena.
