Invited (and paid for) by my business partner Steve who lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, Holly and Ivy and I packed our bags and made a quick flight to Orlando. As usual, Ivy did very well on the flights (this was her 8th round trip flight so far), and we arrived safely late at the Hilton Suites on Wednesday night January 19th.
On Thursday, we met up with Holly’s friend Kristen who has a daughter born on the same day as Ivy (and only about 1 hour sooner). This was both Holly and Ivy’s first trip to the Magic Kingdom, so both were enchanted most of the time. So off we went exploring the park and riding rides and watching shows. Ivy didn’t care much for the shows because they usually included loud noises, but the rides seem to meet her approval.
Friday we headed over to Islands of Adventure and immediately plunged into Dr. Suess Village. Ivy and Holly both seemed to highly enjoy this neck of the woods. Eventually we moved on to the new Harry Potter World of Wizardry section of the park. It looks like they spent billions on this section, as well as the Harry Potter ride which was pretty darn cool. We lingered in this area for quite awhile and even tried some Butterbeer and Pumpkin Fizz (both pretty tasty). But then came the RAIN!!! Bummer! Washed out bigtime! It rained for about an hour and effectively cleared out the park of all the peopl,e including ourselves (but not before riding the Spiderman ride on our way toward the exit).
Friday night was dinner with my business partner Steve, and then Saturday was a trip to the Animal Kingdom. We snapped some pictures with some Pooh characters, smashed some little fingers in a bathroom door, enjoyed the Lion King show, got some face paintings, watched the Nemo show, and rode a rollercoaster. To finish off the day, we took the Safari Trek and were pleasantly surprised to see Ivy get very excited and point at animals left and right and saying, “Mira, mira! (look look).
Sunday we returned home with no problems. And collapsed in exhaustion.
