Joey: Holly survived two full weeks with a trainer and is still alive to tell about it. So far so good! She already has a more healthy glow about her, and according to measurements has lost 1 inch around hips. She is seeing rapid improvement in her capacity to do cardio. Just yesterday she chirped, “Okay, I’m gonna go do 7 miles on the bike at the YMCA!” and off she went to do exactly that.
Holly: That’s right! I have noticed a big improvement in cardio. It’s the one part of my fitness that I have known comes and goes pretty quickly, so I was expecting it to ramp up fast, but not quite as fast as it has, now that I am actually doing regular, extended exercise. The Y downtown has bikes with routes you can watch on a TV (like a video game you are in) and Joey had me try this one ride that’s about 6 miles long a year and a half ago. I couldn’t finish it. Torturous. I tried it again this past January and got through it with some struggle, proud of that accomplishment. I revisited that route again a couple days ago and not only did I complete it, but I shaved 52 seconds off the January time AND I did it with a 10bpm lower heartrate than before. THAT is progress 🙂
Joey: She is adapting very quickly to having a trainer ‘pushing’ and ‘demanding’ things of her. Her trainer’s name is Sarah, and like all the trainers at Bungalow Fitness are very affirming and encouraging while kicking your butt and making her sweat.
I’m seeing changes too, although much less dramatic. I’m down to those hard-to-get-rid-of-last-10-pounds, but also adding muscle at the same time. So it is slow and steady improvement.
We get a little break from the Training schedule due to the Holiday, but back to it on Wednesday.
Holly: Oddly enough, even just missing one regular session after 2 weeks’ worth, I really feel like I’m MISSING something. Feel free to gasp and go wide-eyed at this point. It’s true! So, there’s another change that’s taking place. Onward and downward!
