Summer is here! On Friday, Holly’s job gave her some tickets to an Astro’s Baseball game, so off we went to Minute Maid Park and enjoyed GREAT seats behind home plate. This was in the Executive Suites and included free food and drinks. Sweet! We even had the pleasure of riding the elevator with local celebrity Paul Osteen (brother of Joel Osteen of Lakewood) and two ministers from the church. Nice guys! It was a pleasure to meet them.
On Saturday, Mom flew in direct from Branson, Missouri (yes, Branson actually has an airport!) and camped out for a couple of days. Also my friends Ray and Becky from Louisianna dropped by. Jane also came down to the house and hung out for a few hours. So The MOMs stayed in the house and watched Ivy while Ray, Becky, Holly, and myself went to the Mystery Cafe dinner show. It was a three course meal with a show in between the meals. The plot included a Wedding Reception in which the rich Father of the Groom dies and we have to figure out who did it. Was it the bride? The twin sister? The Mother? All were suspects and had a motive. Ray figured it out correctly.
On Sunday, we went to Lakewood Church and enjoyed (thoroughly) the roof raising Pentcostal preaching ofTD Jakes. Woot! Always a thrill listening to this guy call down fire from Heaven.
Then later off we went to Galveston for some beach time and to finish off the breezy, balmy Sunday afternoon. We never actually made it to the beach, though, because we stayed until closing time at Moody Gardens. Then dinner at Rainforest Cafe. The water was too choppy anyway to enjoy the beach, so maybe next time…
