Lots of sand and sun and loud rock-n-roll this weekend!
Friday night, Ray and I spent the evening having flash backs to the 80’s with Def Leppard and Heart. Good stuff! Both bands gave the crowd exactly what they came to hear – all the old hits one after another. That was fine with me because most of their newer stuff kind of sucks, imho. It was funny to see the crowd was mostly older (40 year old range) and not too many teens or kids. It was sort of like a giant class reunion, and the songs that got the biggest cheers were from the 80’s (Photograph, Rocket, Pour Some Sugar on Me). Totally awesome!
I continued reliving my teen years by going to bed about 2 a.m. and getting up to party some more Saturday morning. This time Holly, Ivy, and myself along with Raul and Arturo headed to Galveston for a fun-run called “BeachPalooza”. It was 5k run on the beach with lots of obstacles to navigate – even an actual fire pit to jump over (yes, real fire and yes it was hot). The race was a little more difficult than I expected mainly because of running in the sand, but it was still fun and challenging. At the end of the race they gave us a free T-Shirt, a silly pineapple hat, a banana, and some Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
