Spent the night in an ER. My old kidney stone friend woke me up again in the middle of the night about 1 a.m.. That’s 5 times now over a period 25 years that I’ve had to go the hospital for kidney stone pain. It’s a miserable experience. The pain lasted about 5 hours.
The doctors and nurses and administrators at Memorial Herrman Convenient Care did a GREAT job! They were fast and attentive. I was able to show up, get into a bed, see a doctor, and get pain meds within about 45 minutes. Later I got cat-scanned and confirmed, yes, it was a kidney stone. They congratulated me on correctly diagnosing myself. lol. I guess that helped speed up the process.
No more pain! $100 copay. I returned home at 7 a.m. Exhausted.

While at the ER, I asked the doctor about the pain I’ve been experiencing in my left foot. She didn’t examine my foot closely, but said it was probably Gout. It turns out that Gout is the same thing as kidney stones – a tiny little ‘rock’ or crystal that forms inside your body and can get lodged in your kidney or in the joints of your toes. If you have kidney stones, then it is very likely you’ll have gout problems, too. So, apparently, that is what is happening. 🙁
